Can you believe that this was the fist ever comedy gig I went to? Nope, me neither. But it was a wonderful way to break the non-comedy trend. Earlier this year Bridget Christie was awarded Best Comedy Show in the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards for A Bic For Her. When it was transferred to the Soho Theatre in Dean Street, I had to go.
A Bic For Her is wonderfully feminist. For all those of you who don’t like the word, feminist only means equality. Nothing more and nothing less. I don’t want to spoil anything for you by describing what happens but just picture Thatcher actually turning, Sir Stirling Moss’ rich friends eating him and the Bronte sisters being unable to write their masterpieces since the pens they use are man pens, not suited for woman hands.
It was wonderful.
The venue is also wonderful – intimate and small and all kinds of perfect. The run has also been extended. If you can I highly recommend you go see it. As an added bonus while there I met a movie star and her movie star boyfriend. I may have lost my cool a little bit. But only a little bit.
