For years now Sister has wanted to go to see Wicked in the West End, and for some strange reason I have always resisted.

Last week that all changed.

We went to see Wicked and I was blown away. Completely and utterly blown away. The pictures below are from the official Wicked website. I would have loved to take pictures, since I like to experience reality through a screen, but we weren’t allowed. The Germans behind me had real issues with this rule – obviously they really need a screen in between them and what they are experiencing.

The dynamic between Elphaba and Glinda was amazing and for me Wicked (the musical at least) is the story of the love and friendship between these two women. And both Verkaik and Stevenson are truly magnificent in their respective roles.  There is one moment, when Glinda teaches Elphaba how to flirt that I will never forget. I even taught my mum the proper way to flick hair.

The songs and singing in Wicked contributed a whole load to blowing my mind. Defying Gravity was just plan incredible.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this production. The sets, the design, the costumes – all point to an incredibly high production value, something which I loved and completely suits this musical.
