Of course MICHI isn’t the first company to merge sportswear with fashion – just look at what Stella McCartney has been doing with adidas for the past few seasons and the whole SportsLuxe thing. Without Isabel Marant we wouldn’t have the wedge trainer. But MICHI has given sportswear an edgy look which I am finding hard to forget.
I am falling more and more in love with the whole mesh trend – it’s edgy, beautiful, and modern. The pieces also look surprisingly sophisticated and far less provocative than mesh panels would suggest.
Of course, I would never work out in Ash wedge trainers but they do look good with the leggings don’t they? And while I love the sports bras (especially the one below) it’s the leggings which I have really fallen in love with. I run all the time and thanks to spending so much of my time in leggings I now love all that nylon-y and spandex-y goodness.
These are definitely on my wish list – I can only imagine how much faster they would make me run. I love looking and feeling good (my version of good, no one else’s) no matter what I do and this most certainly carries over onto my workout wear. This stuff is beautiful.
MICHI’s website says that their clothes originated from their ‘desire to fill the gap between provocative, glamorous lingerie and comfortable, utilitarian athletic wear’ and when I look at the pieces from their Spring 2014 Collection (all the images here are from there) I think they have achieved it. It’s been a long time since sportswear has been bland and boring – this is a nice addition to the merger of it and fashion.
