Yesterday evening I had the opportunity to go and try a Hiitgirl class in Highgate, thanks to BeFit:London and the #HHHChallenge I’m doing. Hiitgirl was founded by Susan and Stuart Dyson who wanted to create a workout that would fit into the lives of busy women who wanted an effective work out which wouldn’t take up a lot of their time.
So my session yesterday was led by Susan Dyson herself and it was a sweat filled 30 minute session. I loved it. I found is very challenging and I fear that I didn’t push myself as hard I should. Does anyone else every worry about that after they have completed a work out? My body was hurting in the good way – you know when muscles are making it known that they are working out – and I was sweating loads. But today, looking back I think I could have done more.
However, this doesn’t take anything away from the fact that it was hard and it was amazing. The atmosphere is lovely and there is always music but not deafening music which is brilliant. Susan was very encouraging and very motivational. Watching her demonstrate the moves was actually awe inspiring. Her speed is something I hope I have one day.
Each class is done on yoga mats, either with socks on or with bare feet. No shoes allowed in the studio. I am such a fan of this concept. I have never worked out on yoga mats before but I enjoyed it and I liked the lack of footwear based confinement.
The whole session worked in 30 second slots. 30 seconds of high intensity exercise and then 30 seconds to recover and learn the next move. It was such an effective way of pooping me out.

I love the fact that I get to try all these incredibly fitness classes and learn all these ways of making my body stronger. Hiitgirl was brilliant and I definitely will be going again.
