Celebrating Chinese New Year in Soho

DSC_0266It was actually Doctor Sister who suggested we go to Chinatown to celebrate the Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram (no one seems to know for sure) and without her I wouldn’t have gone (shame on me). So earlier today the two of us headed into Soho to have a look at what was going on.

Even if it isn’t New Year, Soho always looks beautiful, but right now it was awash with lanterns and colour. DSC_0269DSC_0258DSC_0239DSC_0233DSC_0237DSC_0223DSC_0220And of course the streets were full of enticing, delicious smells leading to stalls full of delicious food. Doctor Sister and I stopped many, many times to buy and try. DSC_0319DSC_0267DSC_0262DSC_0254DSC_0320DSC_0244Doctor Sister opened this fortune cookie without reading the packet so when we read the fortune there was much confusion followed by much laughter. photo (2)Well to be fair who needs a tall dark stranger in the future if Labour froze energy bills?

The highlight of the day had to be seeing the lion bless all the shops. There was lettuce to be eaten and he/she/it made sure he/she/it ate it all.  DSC_0313 DSC_0312 DSC_0311 DSC_0283DSC_0318It was a fantastic afternoon. Welcome Year of the Sheep/Goat/Ram!
