#SoFast at the Linford Christie Stadium

Yesterday marked the beginning of Nike’s So Fast training sessions, all being held to improve speed in the run up to the Anniversary Games this weekend. All I was told was that there would be special guests and surprises. I had no idea that these special guests would include British record holders or that the surprise would be running with a parachute!

British women’s 100m record holder Dina Asher-Smith and and British men’s 100m record holder Chijindu Ujah were waiting for us when we entered Linford Christie Stadium in Shepherd’s Bush. I can’t tell you how cool this was and hearing them talk and pass on some of their tips and motivation really got us all excited about the session coming up.

After a warm up we were all split into two groups and given the parachutes (!). Running with a parachute is so much fun. As the Coach Becks pointed out, she had never seen such huge grins before.

During one parachute sprint we were told to release our parachute mid way and when the drag vanished it really felt as if I was flying.

Of course I couldn’t leave without getting a picture with Dina. I wish her and CJ the best of luck for this weekend – may the force be with them both!

I have signed up to all the sessions and I can’t wait – it is going to be amazing!
