Get Ready to Rumble

I love 1Rebels’ Rumble class and when I saw that Sweaty Betty had partnered with them for their latest  #GetFit4Free campaign I was over the moon. Rumble is a boxing, cardio workout which is slowly starting to take over London (I think 2016 is going to be the year of boxing). I have had the chance to do the workout now in the comfort of my own home and in Sweaty Betty’s Soho store. Links on where to find the video and how to book a class are below so go forth and read!

Firstly I did the class at home in my living room. The workout is just half an hour long and combines boxing with cardio, MMA, and ab work for a full body workout. I love boxing and because it reminds me of my Kung Fu classes as a child I threw myself into the session. I worked up such a sweat and had a fantastic time – I definitely recommend it especially if you are looking for something so do in the comfort of your own home, and it’s free! Plus it is led by 1Rebel master trainer Mila Lazar and she is an excellent teacher who knows what she is doing and teaching.

Having enjoyed it so much at home I booked myself into one of Sweaty Betty’s in store classes and was incredibly excited. I really wanted to experience the class with an actual teacher who could help me to perfect the technique and in my case that teacher was Maria, who is a Sweaty Betty ambassador. The lights were dimmed and the music loud – it was really the perfect way to box and plank and mountain climb. Annoyingly only two people turned up to the class meaning a good handful didn’t even bother to cancel their place. On the flip side having such a small class meant that Maria could show us how to do the moves properly and then make sure we did that. This is not to say the video doesn’t do that but it is very different when there is an actual person there watching you and seeing what you and your body are doing.

I actually think the in-store class was a lot harder than the online video: I certainly sweated more. Maria pushed the two of us and like I said she helped with my technique which I loved.

Sweaty Betty’s GetFit4Free campaign is running now. If you are based in the UK or in the US and have a Sweaty Betty near you, chances are they will be running classes. You can find out more information and book a class here. If you want to do the workout at home then the video can be found here.
