Recently I went to an amazing HIIT and Run session hosted by The Wellscene featuring Svava from The Viking Method and Chevy from Chasing Lights Collective. 45 minutes of high intensity training followed by 45 minutes of running? Bring it on!
The location was a secret until only a few days before and while I could guess that and all ending with brunch it’d be in the East somewhere (all events are in the East) I wasn’t expecting it to be in this beautiful photo studio in Shoreditch where the table was already tantelisingly laid out ready for the brunch after!
Svava’s session killed my legs and bum – so much so that I was tempted to not go for the run just because I was so exhausted! squat jumps, lunge kicks, burpees, planks – everything you could think of it was thrown into the 45 minute session. By the time I finished I was dripping with sweat and starving!
And even though I was tempted to bow out of the run I am so glad that I didn’t. Chevy’s session was all about running with your brain and being clever about it. So instead of just running for 45 minutes we worked on perfecting our running form using box jumps and partner work. And of course wheelbarrows! That was fun!
Once we got back to the studio there was a veritable feast waiting for us. Made by Maple & Fitz there was poached eggs, grilled avocados with chilli and lime, baby spinach with homemade granola with creamy natural yoghurt and berries. There was also the most delicious post workout protein shake from Neat Nutrition which I still remember with really fond memories (and much longing!).
My biggest criticism of the whole event has to sadly be the food – the poached egg was cold and poached eggs are always best when fresh and warm. Apart from this the brunch was the perfect end to a really fun day.
I love days like this, surrounded by amazing people and doing really fun things – long may they continue!
