Reviewing CPress’ 3-Day Juice Cleanse

Last week I won a competition thanks to the amazing Jen who tagged me in an Instagram competition. The prize? A three day juice cleanse from CPress. I have had CPress’ juices and always thought of them as being delicious but had never done a juice cleanse before (from any company). So I was really looking forward to trying this and seeing what would happen.

Before I started the cleanse and before I get into the crux of this review there was one thing I had to get clear in my head and you all need to be fully aware of it:

1.      Juice cleanses have never appealed to me. Juice? Yes. But not drinking juice only. I love food. And before I started I decided that if I was hungry and juice couldn’t fill me up then I was allowed food. But for the three days those would only be veggies (as far as possible).

When the wonderful Miriam contacted me to let me know how the juice could be delivered to me, she mentioned that she was happy to swap one of the days’ juice cleanse for a meal plan. CPress’ meal plans are a new offering from them and as they are all vegan, I was very happy to do this! I love how exciting and innovating vegan cuisine is and couldn’t wait to see what would be included in Balance Plan – the one I chose.

Day 1 – Balance Plan

7am Detox Water
7:30am Devine Granola + Almond Milk (300ml)
10am G Force
12pm Rainbow Circus
2pm Green Angel Juice
4pm Dehydrated Broccoli
7pm Raw-violi + Cacao Protein Bite

When I walked into my place of work the first thing the receptionist said to me was that a box from CPress was waiting for me in the mail room. There was no way I was waiting for it to be delivered to me and instead ran there and carried it up to the 6th floor!

I decided on having Day 1 be the Balance Plan mainly because having those vegan salads staring at me wasn’t something I could resist. In terms of sticking to the plan this day was a massive success. Not only did I eat it all at the times they suggested but I also went to sleep that evening not having an empty stomach growling at me.

I can’t tell you how much I loved the Balance Plan – it was absolutely delicious. When I started with their Devine Granola and Almond Milk I thought I was in heaven. I didn’t think anything could top that granola (IT WAS SO DELICIOUS) and even though nothing else in the plan was better, it was all equally good. I was so suspicious of the dehydrated broccoli – what’s wrong with hydrated broccoli? – but it was very, very moreish. The perfect end to the day was definitely the Cacao Protein Bite: soft and sweet!

Day 1 was a massive success and my stomach and taste buds were satisfied by how delicious and filling it all was.

Day 2 – House Cleanse

7am Detox Water Filtered Water, Lemon, Lime, Ginger, Cayenne Extract
7:30am Charged Up Carrot, Pineapple, Orange, Lemon, Lime and Turmeric
10am Liver Flush Beet, Lemon, Milk Thistle, Dandelion
12pm Green Expectations Cucumber, Apple, Fennel, Kale, Spinach, Lime
2pm Coco H20 Coconut Water
4pm G Force Orange, Ginger, Lemon, Oregano Oil
7pm Farmers Market Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Romaine, Parsley, Lemon, Ginger

I think Detox Water is the perfect way to start the day: it was such a wonderful balance of flavours. As with the Balance Plan, every single juice was delicious. It’s obvious that CPress have worked hard to make sure they have a perfect balance of flavour and ingredients combinations. The Liver Flush was spicy and I had to have a lot of water along with that!

Day 2 was much harder than Day 1. Maybe it’s psychological because I missed eating food! Throughout the day I didn’t feel hungry but work was very busy so I was distracted. However, on the train journey home I could feel my stomach rumbling. So that evening I also had a bowl of sweetcorn and peas with lemon juice and seasoning along with Farmers Market. After that I was content and happy to see what Day 2 would bring.

Day 3 – Green Cleanse

7am Detox Water Filtered Water, Lemon, Lime, Ginger, Cayenne Extract
7:30am Green Harvest Cucumber, Coconut Water, Celery, Romaine, Kale, Spinach, Lemon, Ginger
10am Super Green Spinach, Kale, Lemon, Liquid Chlorophyll
12pm Green Angel Celery, Spinach, Romaine, Lemon, Lime, Ginger, Chlorella
2pm Coco H20 Coconut Water
4pm G Force Orange, Ginger, Lemon, Oregano Oil
7pm Farmers Market Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Romaine, Parsley, Lemon, Ginger

With all the extra water and juice I had been drinking I’d made a lot of trips to the loo and was feeling great. Of course drinking more liquids and vegetables would mean exactly that but for some reason I didn’t realise how much lighter that would make me. I loved that incredibly positive side-effect of this cleanse.

Once again Day 3 started with Detox Water, something which had quickly become one of my favourite things of the cleanse. However unlike Day 2, I found it very difficult to stick with the plan the whole day. By lunch I had drunk A LOT of the juices and really didn’t want to not eat food. So I did. Another bowl of peas and sweetcorn was eaten as well as some apples and carrots. I think because I was at home all day there wasn’t anything to distract me from the fact that I was only drinking juice the whole day.

Post-Cleanse and thoughts

Even though I ate food I don’t think of myself as having ‘failed’ this cleanse. I am sure many of you do but in my opinion eating food is never a failure. I am so grateful to Jen for tagging me in this photo and so thrilled that this 3 Day Cleanse was the prize. Even more than this it was the Balance Plan which really impressed me and it’s definitely something I want to do and eat again. By the end of Day 3 I was so impressed with CPress and their produce. It’s fresh, organic, and beautifully packaged. They appeal to my the science lover in me so much and every time I look at them I think of the periodic table!

And honestly I didn’t think I would recommend this cleanse to anyone once I had done it because I thought I would hate it. I didn’t and I do recommend it. I have a caveat to that since I ate veggies and fruit alongside when I did it. I didn’t pressure myself at all and didn’t beat myself up over not only drinking juice.

As I mentioned, I was given this 3 Day Juice Cleanse free of charge as a competition prize from Instagram. This has not influenced my opinions or thoughts or swayed this review at all.
