Earlier this week I wrote about losing my running motivation. I don’t know what happened but only a little while after that post went live I found something which really excites me: The Speed Project. Twenty teams ran 344 miles across America from Las Angeles to Las Vegas and I want to do that.
I want to do that!
You all know the amazing Becs Gentry from her turn on London ETC? Well she did just that last weekend and when I saw this photo I was sold.

The Speed Project 3.0 344 miles Completed in 36:20:25 Average pace 6:20 35 minutes knocked off 2016 course record. The biggest challenge of my life. Part of the most awesome team – runners and crew – who I'm honoured to have made these sick memories with. No…I can't believe it just yet. I'll wait for the DOMs tomorrow morning. For now my feet are up and I'm about to sleep for as long as I can. 📸 @phildauria #thespeedproject #tspog #tsp3 #pr #crushedit #latovegas #challengeyourself #evolveyourrun #runfast #runforever #friends #vegasbaby #desertrunning #nikerunning #nike #memories #shock #proud
She, along with her team, relay raced their way from LA to LV and were faster than any other team before.
Don’t worry I am really realistic about this. First thing I need to do is sort the pain out so that’s why I have decided to not go via the NHS again and instead go private. I have my first appointment today and shall let you all know how it goes.
After that, I want to increasing my running mileage again. I want to start going to speed sessions and run clubs again. I hate that I haven’t been to either in a long, long time.
Then I want to run from Las Angeles to Nevada. I don’t care how long it takes, I want to do this!
I feel a sense of pleasure that I haven’t in a while – it’s so lovely to have a goal in mind and to be motivated to achieving it.
