In London it’s so easy to fall in love with free stuff. I have been so lucky with some of the cool stuff I have had the opportunity to do and it’s all the more wonderful when it helps championing women’s fitness. A little while ago Adidas opened their Women’s studio in Brick Lane. They have classes ranging from HIIT to yoga to run clubs. What’s more everything is free – you sign up via Facebook Messenger and if you are lucky enough to get a spot you head to Brick Lane and have a wonderful time.
Earlier this week I was able to go to one of their Dance HIIT workouts led by the amazing Adrienne. I love dancing and I love aerobics and I love HIIT. Since paying for a similar 45 minute class in East London (or any area of London really) would cost at least £20 I was very happy to wake up early and head to 152 Brick Lane.
The space is light, airy, sleek, and full of beautiful plants. There are two studios – the larger being upstairs. Another Dance HIIT-er told me that jumping isn’t allowed upstairs (old London buildings) so we were in the space downstairs. I think the downstairs space is the shop floor with the clothes moved – because did I mention the studio is also a boutique with a café? I didn’t have the chance to try it but apparently Bel-Air’s peanut butter and cacao smoothie is the best thing ever.
I think my bank balance was very thrilled that the shop wasn’t open because I love adidas’ Stella McCartney range more than is healthy.
Adrienne led us through a 45 minute HIIT session to the best music and covered everything – bums, core, arms, and full body cardio. It was a no equipment workout – my favourite kind because in a hotel room I don’t have weights and when I go on holiday, I don’t want to bring weights with me. She has such a passion for music and every single song was on point! The day after my glutes were on fire. Wonderful, wonderful, muscle -y fire.
Upstairs adidas have beautiful, if small, changing rooms with showers so heading straight to work clean and refreshed was easy. If you can, go! I don’t know for sure but every week adidas seems to feature a different female athlete / trainer to lead the classes.
Also, it’s FREE!
