Tahini Porridge with honey and sesame brûlée topping

I have always been slightly obsessed with breakfast and this tahini porridge with honey and sesame brûlée is my actual dreams come true. Breakfast is almost always my favourite meal of the day. No matter how much I love sleep I will always wake up early enough to eat breakfast before rushing out of the door. On weekends I can indulge in this love and try something new and exciting.

I initially saw this recipe on Spoon Cereals. I have posted it below too because it is fabulous and should be seen by everyone! Part of making the brûlée topping means you need to put this porridge under the grill and when it was cooking the whole house was infused with a truly gorgeous sesame smell.

This recipe, this dish has become one of my firm favourites and I hope you love it as much as I do!

This recipe serves one so increase as you want. I found that one portion was enough for me but I definitely wouldn’t want to share!

Ingredients

  • 50g oats
  • 350ml milk of your choice – I used soya
  • 1tsp tahini
  • 1-2 tsp honey
  • Handful of sesame seeds – I used black and white

Method

Preheat your grill to a medium temperature.

Mix the oats with the milk. I used soya milk but you can use whatever you like and I think next time I want to use a nut milk just to see what that does to the flavour. If you can, leave to soak for a little while to soften the oats. Add the tahini and mix.

Heat the mixture until it’s just warm. Already the smell should be making your stomach rumble!

Once warm spoon the mixture into an oven proof dish.

Drizzle the honey on top and then add the sesame seeds.

Place under the grill and let it cook until the top is a lovely golden colour.

Leave it to cool for a little while then tuck in!
