The Perfect Turmeric Latte Recipe

Warming: this post starts with a bold claim. I think I have perfected the turmeric latte. I know, I know – how can I have the audacity to make such a claim? The perfect turmeric latte is the stuff of myth and legend. Well I am here to tell you that you can cut your tower length hair and that you don’t have to prick your finger on that spinning wheel. Because it is true, I have done it.

I have been having turmeric lattes for a long time now. And I really like them. I started off by buying them but ever since Plastic Free July turned into Plastic Free 2017, I have really cut down on the amount of plastic I buy and use (there will be a whole post on that soon). The only alternative I could see was making them at home.

And I found a combination of spices I really liked. Then last weekend I added a pinch of something new and it blew my tatse buds out of the water: nutmeg. This little spice I have started to add to almost anything. Curry? Yes. Porridge? Yes. Lattes? Hells yes.

How was I not doing this before?

And with the nutmeg in a curry, I promise you all it works as long as you don’t go crazy and out in a cup full. It adds another layer to the whole dish and is delicious.

So this is my recipe for the most perfect soya latte. I hope you enjoy and please do let me know how you all find it!

Ingredients for two mugs of turmeric latte

1 tbsp of tuermic

1 tbsp of ginger powder

1 tsp of cinnamon

1 tsp of nutmeg

Milk of your choice. I used soya milk.


Heat the milk, turmeric, ginger powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg on the stove, stirring continuously. Make sure it doesn’t boil over. When it is at your perfect temperature pour into the mugs and enjoy!

Tip: the spice quantities I have listed above are perfect for me. Feel free to experiment and change the amount you use.
