I know so many of you reading this will have already completed an obstacle race of some sort – I can’t quite believe that I haven’t. Hopefully that’s going to change really soon because I have had my eye on Spartan Race for a while now. Earlier this year Sam Lansdale challenged the country’s ‘couch potatoes’ to give Spartan Races a go; and with more than a million people in 30 countries lacing up, I definitely think people have done just that.

The 2018 UK season kicked off last week with the first race taking place in Kent. To mark the launch I was given the opportunity to interview Sam himself and as General Manager of Spartan Race UK & Ireland, he is the man with the answers.

This is the last London ETC for 2016 and what a last edition I have for you all. Meems is one of the best people I know. She is determined, whip smart, and so funny I usually spend all my time with her laughing until my belly hurts. I met her at a run and our friendship has been full of sweat sessions, coffee, and all the food in the world. She has battled with depression and is so vocal about de-stigmatising mental health issues. She is running her first marathon next year (hello London Marathon 2017!) and I can’t tell you all how thrilled I am that Meera answered my questions. All her answers are below the cut. ENJOY!

I was trying to think of a way to introduce you all to the latest amazing person to star in my London ETC series but when it comes to Emma, the first thing I want you all to know about her is that I LOVE HER. She is one of the strongest, most determined, most inclusive people I know. What’s more she is one of those genuinely lovely people who actually wants you to succeed. Emma is a former athlete, keen runner and Nike pacer. Like me, she was a Games Maker in 2012 (and like me she loved it as much as I did!). Unlike me she has completed an indoor Iron Man and the 24 hour burpee challenge (!!) In this weeks’ London ETC she talks about her love of training outdoors, how she honours her father’s memory, and what healthy means to her.

Enjoy!

Tameka Small was the first Psycle instructor I ever spun with. Or should that be ‘went spinning’ with, or even ‘sweated-so-much-on-a-stationary-bike-that-I-thought-I-was-going-to-drown’ with? Her engery was through the roof and though years have passed since then I have had the pleasure of training with her multiple times since, especially in Nike Events, where she is a N+TC Elevated Trainer. She is the latest wonderful person to star in my London ETC series. She talked to me about her favourite areas of London, what healthy means to her, and how she plans to slay 2017. Enjoy!
