Barry’s Bootcamp is a London fitness boutique where each hour long class is made up of half floor exercises (weight and strength training) and half treadmill exercises. You also have the option of opting out of the treadmill section and doing a Double Floor (DF) workout where you only concentrate on the floor exercises for the whole hour. On every month where there are five Monday’s they do something called Hell Week where the challenge is to do 7 workouts in 7 days. It’d been on my radar for a while now just because I’d seen so many people doing it on social media and when it turned out May was one of those months I decided to bite the bullet and sign up….

Even though my knees are so much better than they were (and I can now run) I am taking it easy on the running and trying other things. I was lucky enough to be invited for a 3/60 workout at FitMiBody in Shoreditch hosted by Carly from Project Hot Bitch and Healthbox Kitchen. The 3/60 meant three different workouts in an hour – 20 minutes of boxing with 20 minutes of strength training and 20 minutes of agility and cardio work. What it also meant was A LOT of sweat and ever more laughter and chatting as the women invited were all epic and excited and very, very wonderful.

A little while ago I entered a competition on Fitness on Toast’s Instagram page. The prize was a Personal Training session with Faya herself and as I entered I thought it would be something I would really enjoy doing. I’d been lucky enough to train with her already at adidas’ The X earlier and thought she was great at motivating me to push that little bit harder and to make sure I did all the moves correctly. I was over the moon happy when I found out I won – after all a PT session with someone I like? Yes please!

But while I loved skipping with a passion it didn’t love me as truly, madly, or deeply. The first time I ever suffered any sort of pain from physical activity was when I was barely ten and managed to tear a muscle in my back from skipping (an instance of too much of a good thing). I hated it when the doctor told me I couldn’t skip until it had healed – and I think I hated him too (it didn’t occur to me to hate skipping). But now as an adult (with a simultaneously stronger and more broken body) I have rediscovered my love for this whole body cardio workout and now, it is loving me back.

Running is my first love but I love, absolutely love trying out new classes and styles of working out. Earlier this year when Sweaty Betty launched their GetFit4Free campaign with Body By Simone I was introduced to Simone De La Rue, the founder and genius behind BBS. In the run up to BBS London, Simone was hosting a pop up and I was lucky enough to get a place.

I love this picture so much.
