Last week I won a competition thanks to the amazing Jen who tagged me in an Instagram competition. The prize? A three day juice cleanse from CPress. I have had CPress’ juices and always thought of them as being delicious but had never done a juice cleanse before (from any company). So I was really looking forward to trying this and seeing what would happen.
Earlier this week I went to my first ever Supper Club! When I heard about this one, being hosted by Elizabeth and Khyati, both women I know from running and fitness events, I was really excited. They promised home cooked vegetarian food at Nanna’s Café in Islington. Not only that, all proceeds were going to FoodCycle and all the food being used was wasted food – food shops and restaurants threw out.
As a vegetarian, I always find it difficult finding food that I can eat. In some countries this is easy (Sri Lanka) and in others very difficult (I’m looking at you Japan). Generally Europe has a pretty decent selection of vegetarian food but I didn’t know how Vienna would fare. Would I be stuck with risotto and pasta (boooringggg) for the whole trip? Thankfully I wasn’t and some of the places we went to has some of the loveliest vegetarian food I’ve ever eaten.
Poached eggs, grilled avocado, roasted mushroom, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, fresh beetroot, and cantaloupe melon, with goji berries and pistachios… tell me your stomach isn’t rumbling from reading that. When I went to The Blues Kitchen last weekend my eyes initially went to the pancakes. Then I read what was in their Healthy Breakfast and my eyes grew as large as my stomach. Forget the pancakes and give me the eggs and asparagus!
Colombo – our first and last stop on our Sri Lankan trip and the last of this series of travel diaries sadly! (There will be more very soon…) Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and the largest city in the country. It’s on the West coast of Sri Lanka and as we were only going there for a day we hadn’t planned much to do. As far as I was concerned Colombo was our chance to recover and relax before getting on a very long flight back to London.
