Disney. I have wanted to run with Disney for a few years now, ever since I heard of the races held in the American parks. Since I won’t be going to America any time soon (until a certain President isn’t there any longer) I was thrilled when Disneyland Paris also starting hosting them. This year was the second year they did and the first I decided to go to.

Of all the races they had, I decided to sign up for the 10k and the half marathon. Both of these races made up the 31k Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Challenge and that meant that if everything went to plan, I would be leaving with three glorious medals.

IMG_9684It has been so long since I ran the Paris Marathon but have written about my post-marathon adventures until now. I took my whole family with me to Paris – so Sister, The Fathership, and The Mothership and after the marathon we all had a short break in one of the most visited cities in the world. While Sister and I had both been there before the Parental Units hadn’t so we planned all the common touristy things – the Eiffel Tower, a night time cruise along the Seine, the Louvre Museum, Sacré-Coeur, and the Palace of Versailles. I am so excited to write about this because it means I am on the other side of it! It is done and I and my knees survived, well sort of. It was a wonderful experience made all the better because my family were there with me, supporting me the whole time.

I haven’t run properly and without pain in about three weeks. So this week I did one 5km on Monday and that’s it. I think I am lucky that this week is a very heavy one for me work wise because my panic would be off the scales if I had every evening free to think about how much I am NOT running.

Yesterday I booked hotels and train tickets for me and my whole family for the Paris Marathon. They aren’t running but I want Sister and the Parental Units to come and see me run, plus the Mother and Fathership have never been to Paris so this was the perfect reason to have a holiday in the city of love (lurvveeee) too. It is now very, very real. not that it wasn’t real before but now it is even more real because things have been booked and plans have been made. The last time I ran a marathon I had four weeks to train. I did as much as I could but the priority was to enjoy myself and to finish the race without dying or shitting myself. Now though I can’t do that. Well actually I can, but I don’t want to because I want to give myself a shot at running a good time. This means I need to train.
