At the end of Kill Bill Volume 1 there is this amazing fight scene in a restaurant. Well that restaurant exists. And while I was in Tokyo I ate there.
There was one thing I really wanted to do in Japan (well actually there were many but this was one of them) and that was to have actual sushi in actual Japan. Neither Sister nor I wanted to go to the fish market and see fish being auctioned (we aren’t diehard fans of tune) so eating some excellent fish (her) was a priority. One our second night we ended up in Sushizanmai which was in Ginza and I managed to get my paws on some excellent food.
Akihabara was the first part of Tokyo I went to which truly blew my mind. There was an actual explosion with brain matter and shards of bone flying about all over the place. Full of otaku culture, manga, anime, cosplay and computer goods, this was my teen self’s heaven.
Over the past two weeks I have actually been in Japan, one of the most amazing countries I have ever been to. I stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka before flying back home (something I was very reluctant to do). So while I will be posting non-travel stuff too, the bulk of my posts for a while are all going to be about Japan. Starting with my first evening in Japan when Sister and I went to explore Harajuku.
There is nothing quite like people watching in Tokyo, where fashion is anything and everything, and nothing is out of place. And there is nothing like watching people cross one of the busiest crossings in the world.
