Exploring in Halstatt

‘We’ve been to Italy before,’ said my Sister, ‘I want to go somewhere new.’

And that’s how the two of us ended up taking a trip to Munich and Salzburg with day trips to Fussen and Halstatt thrown in for good measure earlier this month. We had a week of hiking, and climbing, and chatting. Of eating cake, and drinking fancy coffees, and being in a winter wonderland. It was cold when we arrived but quickly the temperature dropped and we found ourselves being tourists in minus-four degree snowy weather. As much as we wanted to hibernate the whole time we were there, we didn’t and here is my write up of travelling actively in Munich, Salzburg, Fussen, and Halstatt.

When I found out I was going to be staying overnight in Bath, the first thing I thought of was going for a run and hoping the weather would hold. Bath seems to be the perfect city for runners, especially tourist runners: everything is near everything else, there are long flats and challenging hills, and all the tourists a solo traveller could hope for. Only one person looked at me as if I had lost my marbles when I asked them to take a picture of me. Only one!

I ran, I partied, and I collected one of the loveliest medals ever. Welcome to my race recap for the lululemon Seawheeze Half 2017! My first half marathon took me to London. My second took me to Vancouver. I love travelling to run and running when I travel. This was the perfect way to mix both, especially because I had never been to Canada. Seawheeze isn’t just a race, it is also a weekend of pre- and post-Wheeze activities.

When my sister first suggested we travel to Prague I had mixed feelings. It’s always a yes to travel and I want to go everywhere but Prague isn’t known as a vegetarian of vegan friendly place. I was sceptical and worried all I’ll be able to eat is rice and bread. But then I started doing some research and discovered that the city has undergone a food revolution.
