So I am relatively new to the world of weight lifting and strength training. I wish I could tell you all that I can bench press my own body weight and do 30 chin ups in a row – I can’t…yet, but I have fallen in love with lifting weights and building muscles. There are so many benefits to strength training and I was to talk about them and be very frank with the changes that have happened to my body.

Barry’s Bootcamp is a London fitness boutique where each hour long class is made up of half floor exercises (weight and strength training) and half treadmill exercises. You also have the option of opting out of the treadmill section and doing a Double Floor (DF) workout where you only concentrate on the floor exercises for the whole hour. On every month where there are five Monday’s they do something called Hell Week where the challenge is to do 7 workouts in 7 days. It’d been on my radar for a while now just because I’d seen so many people doing it on social media and when it turned out May was one of those months I decided to bite the bullet and sign up….

With Esther and Emma

I am such a fan of trying out new exercise classes. Like a butterfly I like to drift from one flower (class) to another (class) with the only constant in my life being running. Last week I had the chance to try two classes. Both held at 1Rebel, the first was their Reshape class and the second their Rounds class (which is a mixture of Rumble (boxing) and Reshape).

SideEffectsNike Training Club regularly runs free classes and in December I went to my first one. In conjunction with Barry’s Bootcamp it was a full body workout in one of the loveliest studios I have ever been in. The lights were low and red, there was a DJ in the corner, we all were using the incredible Woodway treadmills, and I was lifting weights.
